DTF Transfer Size & Placement Guide for Shirts
Getting print size and placement right makes the difference between a pro–looking garment and an amateur one. Use these standard measurements as your starting point.
Common print sizes and placements (adult)
| Placement | Typical size | Position |
|---|---|---|
| Left chest | 3–4 in wide | About 7–9 in from shoulder seam |
| Full front | 10–12 in wide | About 3–4 in below collar |
| Full back | 11–14 in wide | About 3 in below collar |
| Sleeve | 1.5–3 in wide | Centered on sleeve |
| Youth front | 6–8 in wide | About 2–3 in below collar |
How to position it
- Fold the shirt in half lengthwise and crease lightly to find the vertical center.
- For a full front, center the design on that line, 3–4 inches below the collar.
- For a left chest, place it on the wearer left side, aligned roughly with the second button line.
- Use a ruler or alignment tool — eyeballing leads to crooked prints.
Tip: Scale the print down for youth and slim–fit garments — an adult full–front size will overwhelm a small shirt.
Fit more designs per sheet
