UV DTF vs DTF: What's the Difference & When to Use Each?
DTF and UV DTF sound similar and share a name, but they're built for two completely different jobs. One decorates fabric; the other sticks to hard surfaces — with no heat at all. Here's how to tell them apart and when to use each.
What Is DTF?
DTF (direct-to-film) transfers are heat-pressed onto fabric. Your design is printed on film, then bonded to the garment with heat and adhesive. DTF is the go-to for T-shirts, hoodies, bags, and hats — on virtually any color or material.
What Is UV DTF?
UV DTF transfers are cured with UV light and apply to hard surfaces with no heat press required. You simply peel, position, and rub them down. They're permanent, waterproof, and have a slightly raised 3D texture — perfect for cups, tumblers, glass, phone cases, candles, and signage.
